Biography

Glen Meyer, a Republican, began serving as the Nebraska State Senator for District 17 on January 8, 2025. Born on March 14, 1951, in Wayne, Nebraska, he was raised on a farm in Wayne County and graduated from Pender High School in 1969. Meyer has a strong background in agriculture, having managed his family farm west of Pender, where he raised grain and livestock. In 1998, he transitioned to a role as District Sales Manager for Crows Hybrids, which later became Channel Seeds, and continued in this capacity until his retirement in 2016.

Meyer has been deeply involved in public service, serving nine years on the local school board, including a tenure as chairman of the Thurston County Board of Supervisors. He has also been a member of the Northeast Nebraska Pork Producers board, St. Mary's parish council, the Northeast Nebraska Board of Health, and the Region 4 Behavioral Health Board.

In the 2024 general election, Meyer was elected to the Nebraska State Senate, defeating Mike Albrecht with 52.4% of the vote.
