About

A. David Trahan

A. David Trahan was born on February 25, 1963, and is an American politician, logger, and lobbyist from Maine. He was raised in Maine and currently resides in Waldoboro with his wife Pam, where he works as a professional logger. Trahan has been an active member of his community, serving on multiple boards including the Board of Directors for Miles Memorial and St. Andrews Hospitals, the Knox and Lincoln County Farm Bureau, and as President of the Lincoln County Fish and Game Association.

Education and Political Experience

Trahan graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta. He served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006, representing the towns of Waldoboro, Bremen, Jefferson, and part of Nobleboro, winning four consecutive terms. He was subsequently elected to the Maine Senate, serving from 2008 to 2010 as a Republican representing Maine's 20th District, which encompassed the majority of Lincoln County as well as Friendship, Windsor, and Washington.

Notable Achievements and Current Position

During his legislative career, Trahan championed several initiatives, including establishing government accountability through a new taxpayer watchdog agency, leading efforts to require mandatory reporting of medical errors in hospitals, and sponsoring a law to authorize EpiPen administration for all first responders throughout Maine. He was a member of the Government Oversight Committee and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.

Since October 2011, Trahan has served as Executive Director of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting conservation of the state's wildlife resources and advocating for hunters, anglers, trappers, and gun owners. In this role, he oversees the organization's lobbying arm, the Institute for Legislative Action, and manages an outdoor education center located on 134 acres of donated land in Augusta.
