About
Aaron M. Michlewitz is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives representing the 3rd Suffolk District in Boston. The district encompasses the North End, Waterfront, Chinatown, South End, Financial District, Bay Village, Leather District, and parts of Beacon Hill and Back Bay neighborhoods.
Political Experience
Michlewitz was elected to the House in a special election in 2009 following the resignation of Salvatore DiMasi. He currently serves as the House Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, overseeing negotiations on the Commonwealth's budget.
Throughout his legislative career, he has held several prominent committee positions, including Chairman of the Joint Committee on Financial Services, the Joint Committee on Public Service, and the Joint Committee on Election Laws.
Among his notable legislative achievements, Michlewitz was a leading author of Massachusetts's landmark 2016 legislation regulating Transportation Network Companies such as Uber and Lyft. He has also worked on crafting legislation to regulate short-term residential rentals like Airbnb.
Education
Michlewitz holds an MBA from Suffolk University, completing his degree in 2013.
Prior to his election to the House, he worked as Constituent Services Director for then-Speaker Sal DiMasi from 2004 until DiMasi's resignation in January 2009.
