About

Abe M. Hudson, Jr. is a former Democratic Mississippi State Representative who served House District 29, covering Bolivar and Sunflower Counties, including communities such as Cleveland, Benoit, Beulah, Gunnison, Pace, Symonds, Rosedale, Renova, Merigold, Mound Bayou, and Shelby. A native of the Mississippi Delta, he was elected in a special election in July 2016 and served five years until resigning effective August 30, 2021. Notable positions included Vice-Chair of the Ports, Harbors and Airports Committee, and membership on Agriculture, Drug Policy, Tourism, Transportation, and Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks committees. His accomplishments encompassed funding support, constituent services, community involvement, and civil rights activism; key goals focused on public education funding, Medicaid expansion, infrastructure, criminal justice reform, economic justice, election reform, and affordable housing.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Graduated from T.L. Weston High School in Greenville, Mississippi; earned a BSBA in marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi; obtained an MBA and MSBA in finance from Mississippi State University; pursuing a doctorate in urban and regional planning from Jackson State University.
  • Political Experience: Elected to Mississippi House District 29 in July 2016 special election; re-elected in 2019; resigned August 30, 2021; also served as Bolivar County Circuit Clerk.
  • Other: Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for over 20 years; resides in Shelby, Mississippi, with wife Adrienne and daughter Abee Miranda.
