Abel Nazario Quiñones, born June 24, 1970, in Springfield, Massachusetts, is a Puerto Rican politician affiliated with the New Progressive Party *. He represents Puerto Rico *at-large as a senator in the 26th Senate of Puerto Rico. Previously, he served as mayor of Yauco from 2000 to 2016, elected in 2000 and reelected in 2004, 2008, and 2012. He resides in Yauco and has held roles such as vice president of the PNP and the local GOP affiliate. In 2016, he was elected senator-at-large. Notable positions include president of the Senate Committee on Education and University Reform . In 2022, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for conspiring to misappropriate municipal funds from 2014, following a guilty plea.
