Abigail Whelan is a Republican who represented District 35A in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019, covering a portion of Anoka County. Born on January 13, 1988, she served two terms after defeating DFL nominee Peter Perovich in 2014 by 20.09% , but announced in 2018 that she would not seek re-election.

Education and Political Experience

  • Graduated from Anoka High School in 2006.
  • Earned a bachelor's degree in political science and history from the University of Minnesota in 2010; studied abroad in England and traveled Europe.
  • Obtained a master's degree in public policy from the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs in 2013 on a scholarship, after initial work at the Minnesota Legislature.
