Adam Roger Hattersley
Adam Roger Hattersley is a Democratic politician from Riverview, Florida, who represented House District 59 in the Florida House of Representatives. Born on March 24, 1978, in Boston, Massachusetts, he moved to Florida in 2009. Hattersley is a small business owner and Navy veteran who served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer aboard the USS Columbus and as an instructor at the US Naval Academy from 2000 to 2008. He was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006 to 2007 and received the Bronze Star. Beyond his professional roles, Hattersley is an internationally certified judge for men's gymnastics. He is married to Christie Hattersley.
Education
Hattersley earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan .
Political Experience
Hattersley was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2018, representing Hillsborough County's District 59. During his 2018–2020 tenure, he served on several committees including the State Affairs Committee, Local Administration Subcommittee, Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee, Criminal Justice Subcommittee, and Gaming Control Subcommittee. He won his 2018 House race by 3 percentage points with a campaign emphasizing his military service.
After leaving the House, Hattersley pursued higher office. In 2020, he ran for Florida's 15th Congressional District in the Democratic Primary but lost to Alan Cohn. In 2022, he ran for Florida Chief Financial Officer but lost to Republican incumbent Jimmy Patronis. Subsequently, Hattersley transitioned to local politics, running for Hillsborough County Commission in District 7.
