Adelaide C. Eckardt is a Republican who served in the Maryland General Assembly, representing District 37 . She was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 37B from January 1995 to January 2015 and then the Maryland Senate for District 37 from January 2015 to January 2023. Born September 8, 1943, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Eckardt began her political career with an unsuccessful run in 1990 before winning election to the House of Delegates in 1994, defeating Democratic incumbent Robert Alan Thornton Jr. She was reelected multiple times, including in 2006 alongside Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio. In the Senate, she served on the Budget and Taxation Committee, Executive Nominations Committee, and Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee. Additional experience includes co-chairing the Task Force to Study Tax Sales in Maryland and serving on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Environmental Trust .
