Aimee Berger-Girvalo

Aimee Berger-Girvalo is an American politician and behavioral therapist serving as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the 111th district, which includes Ridgefield. She is a member of the Democratic Party and has been in office since January 6, 2021, following her election in November 2020. She is currently in her third term and was re-elected in November 2024.

A resident of Ridgefield for more than 20 years, Berger-Girvalo was raised by a mother who served as an Army nurse during the Vietnam War. She has two adult children—a daughter who graduated from college and works in the nonprofit sector, and a son attending college in Rhode Island.

Education

Berger-Girvalo earned a B.A. in developmental disability advocacy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Political Experience and Achievements

Committee Positions: Berger-Girvalo serves as Chair of the Transportation Committee and as a member of the Public Health, Government Administration and Elections Committees. She is also a member of the Bipartisan Women's Caucus, the Climate Caucus, and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Caucus.

Legislative Accomplishments: During her first term, she brought Ridgefield nearly $3 million in bonding dollars and grants, created a tax credit for parents who have lost a child in a stillbirth, and passed a Public Health bill requiring automated external defibrillators in gyms. In her second term, she collaborated on legislation serving the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities community and passed a bill expanding lung cancer screenings to underserved residents.

Professional Background: Prior to her political career, Berger-Girvalo managed multi-million-dollar restaurant and retail businesses, worked as an operations manager with Hard Rock Café International, served as a retail manager for Gap Inc., and worked as a preschool teacher, public school special education paraeducator, and applied behavior analysis therapist serving children on the autism spectrum and their families.
