Aisha N. Braveboy

Aisha Nazapa Braveboy was born on July 29, 1974, and is a prominent Democratic politician from Maryland. She is currently serving as the County Executive of Prince George's County, a position she has held since June 19, 2025. Braveboy is distinguished for having served in all three branches of government—Executive, Legislative, and Judicial—throughout her public service career.

Political Experience

*Maryland House of Delegates *

Braveboy was elected to represent District 25 in the Maryland House of Delegates, serving from January 10, 2007, to January 14, 2015. During her tenure in the legislature, she:

  • Supported legislation to reduce mass incarceration and combat domestic violence
  • Championed protections for homeowners against deceptive lenders
  • Advocated for raising the school dropout age from 16 to 18
  • Served on the Economic Matters Committee throughout her entire tenure, chairing its consumer protection and commercial law subcommittee from 2011 to 2015
  • Served as Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland from 2012 to 2014, where she promoted legislation supporting historically black colleges and universities, economic empowerment, and social justice

*State's Attorney *

In 2018, Braveboy was elected State's Attorney of Prince George's County, becoming the first African American woman to hold this position. She was re-elected in 2022 and served until 2025, managing a $24 million budget and overseeing a staff of more than 200 while representing over one million residents.

*County Executive *

Following the election of Angela Alsobrooks to the U.S. Senate, Braveboy successfully ran in a special election on June 3, 2025, to become County Executive of Prince George's County. Her stated priorities include improving county infrastructure, enhancing public schools, promoting job creation and youth investment, and maintaining public safety.
