About

Al Pscholka is a Republican former member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing Michigan's 79th House district from 2011 to 2017. Born on September 6, 1960, in Saginaw, he served three sessions, including as Majority Caucus Chair for the Republican Caucus during his second term. Notable achievements include authoring the Fiscal Accountability Act , addressing state financial emergencies, and serving on key committees such as Appropriations and various subcommittees on energy, labor, economic growth, higher education, and capital outlay. He later became Budget Director for the State of Michigan. Pscholka resides in Stevensville, Berrien County, and is married to Sue with one daughter, Angela Rhodes.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in communications from Western Michigan University.
  • Professional Experience: District Director for U.S. Rep. Fred Upton ; Vice President of Cornerstone Alliance, a nonprofit economic development group ; Co-owner and Station Manager of Cosy Broadcasting , including part-time broadcasting of local high school sports.
  • Political Experience: Elected to Michigan House in November 2010, re-elected in 2012 and 2014 ; served on Appropriations, Redistricting and Elections, and multiple subcommittees.
  • Community Involvement: Mentor in Benton Harbor Schools; member of Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Farm Bureau.
