About
Al Williams is a Democratic representative for Georgia House District 168, based in Midway, GA. He has served continuously since being sworn in on January 13, 2003, after election in 2002, making him a longtime incumbent with over 22 years in office. Born in Hinesville and raised in Liberty County to Alexander and Carrie Williams, he is a family man married to Olivia, a Vietnam military veteran, businessman , and dedicated Christian church leader. Notable achievements include serving as former Chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus , receiving the 2008 Trumpet Award, being the first African American state representative from Liberty County since Reconstruction, and early political involvement starting at age 13 as a national committeeman for the Young Democrats of Georgia. He holds key committee roles, including Appropriations, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism, Game, Fish & Parks, Regulated Industries, Rules, and Rural Development, and serves on the Georgia Joint Military Defense Commission.
