About
Senator Alan D. Solano is a Republican who represented District 32 in the South Dakota State Senate, covering parts of Pennington County including downtown Rapid City and areas south to Upper Spring Creek Road. A lifelong resident of Rapid City, he was appointed to the Senate seat in January 2014 by Governor Dennis Daugaard to fill the vacancy left by Sen. Stan Adelstein's resignation. Solano served until his resignation effective November 30, 2019. Notable achievements include his leadership roles as CEO of Behavior Management Systems and the John T. Vucurevich Foundation, board memberships with the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce, South Dakota Council of Community Mental Health Centers, and South Dakota Council of Substance Abuse Directors, and service on the Governor’s Employment Works Task Force. In October 2024, he was named Vice President of Governmental Affairs at Monument Health.
