Alan M. Casavant (137)

Alan M. Casavant is a Democrat who represented District 137 in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014. He served as Mayor of Biddeford from November 2011 to 2023, defeating incumbent Joanne Twomey and later losing to Martin Grohman. Previously, he was a Biddeford City Council member for 18 years . Notable achievements include a 35-year career teaching social studies and coaching at Biddeford High School until retirement in 2012, and fostering community pride in Biddeford. Born in Biddeford to a Franco-American family, he shifted from initial reluctance toward a deep commitment to public service.
