Alejandro Javier García Padilla, born on August 3, 1971, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican politician and attorney affiliated with the *Partido Popular Democrático *. He served as the 11th Governor of Puerto Rico from 2013 to 2017, after being elected to the Senate in 2008 as the PPD's top vote-getter at-large. Notable achievements include his role as President of the PPD, Secretary of Consumer Affairs , and ranking member on key Senate committees such as Governmental Affairs, Public Safety, and Judicial Affairs. He championed consumer rights, kept gas prices low during the Iraq War, and passed bipartisan bills for university scholarships. Post-governorship, he returned to private law practice, representing workers and consumers.
