Alex DeCroce was a Republican politician who represented New Jersey's 26th Legislative District in the General Assembly from 1989 until his death in 2012. Born on June 10, 1936, in Morristown, he served as the Assembly's Republican Leader since 2003, Republican Conference Leader from 2002 to 2003, and Deputy Speaker from 1994 to 2001. He also served on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders from 1984 to 1989, including as Freeholder Director in 1986, and was a member of the Legislative Services Commission. DeCroce resided in Parsippany-Troy Hills and passed away on January 9, 2012, at age 75, after collapsing in the Statehouse.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Attended Boonton High School and Seton Hall University.
  • Political Experience: Elected to the New Jersey General Assembly for the 26th District in 1989; advanced through leadership roles including Deputy Speaker , Republican Conference Leader , and Republican Leader . Prior service on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders .
