Alex Avery Garza is a Democratic politician serving as Wayne County Commissioner for District 14 since January 4, 2024. He previously represented Michigan House District 12 from 2019 to 2023, where he was the youngest Latino ever elected to the state house and passed a record 8 Public Acts into law as a Democrat, including more bipartisan legislation than any other from his party.

Notable achievements include being the first person of color elected to local office in Taylor, Michigan , serving as Mayor Pro-Tem of Taylor City Council , and working across party lines on committees. He is Vice-Chairman of the Wayne County Commission's Seniors and Veterans Affairs committee and serves on Audit, Government Operations, and Public Safety, Judiciary, & Homeland Security committees.
