Alex X. Mooney is a Republican politician born on June 7, 1971, in Washington, DC. He served as a Maryland State Senator representing District 3 from 1999 to 2011. Notable achievements include being elected Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party , receiving the Maryland Taxpayer of the Year award , National Hero of the Taxpayer Award , Taxpayer Advocate Award , and Legislator of the Decade Award from the Maryland Taxpayers Association. He later served as U.S. Representative for West Virginia's 2nd District and ran for U.S. Senate.
