Alice W. Nitka is a Democrat representing the Windsor District in the Vermont State Senate, including the town of Ludlow. Born on December 13, 1944, in Little Falls, New York, she moved to Ludlow in 1969 and has served as a social worker, most recently with Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc., providing services to children. She previously worked as an adoption social worker for the Vermont Achievement Center. Nitka is married with two daughters and serves as Ludlow Town Justice of the Peace . Notable affiliations include the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation National Advisory Board, Senate Chair of the Vermont Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus, Ludlow Board of Civil Authority, Rutland County Foster and Adoptive Families Association, and Black River Valley Rod and Gun Club. She previously chaired the Ludlow Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment. Key committee roles include Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Clerk of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, and Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Judicial Retention.
