Alicia Reece is a longtime public servant from Cincinnati who has represented Ohio House District 33, which includes eastern Cincinnati and surrounding communities including Deer Park, Elmwood, Golf Manor, Norwood, Silverton, St. Bernard, and parts of Columbia, Springfield, and Sycamore Townships.

An active community member, Reece is involved with New Friendship Baptist Church and holds memberships in the Order of Eastern Stars, NAACP, and serves as a national board member of Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network. She is a founding member of the National Urban League of Young Professionals.

Education

Reece graduated from Withrow High School International Studies Academy and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Grambling State University in Louisiana, where she studied public relations and minored in Spanish.

Political Experience

Before her service in the Ohio House, Reece held several significant positions:

  • Cincinnati City Council: Served as a City Councilwoman for eight years, advocating for women's health legislation, racial profiling litigation, public safety, small business tax reform, and tourism development.

  • Vice Mayor of Cincinnati: Served from 2002 to 2006.

  • Ohio Department of Development: Served as Assistant Director of Tourism, overseeing a $39 billion industry employing 400,000 Ohioans. She also served as Interim Director of the State of Ohio Film Office, where she authored rules for the state's film tax credits.

  • Ohio Legislative Black Caucus: Served as President, launching the State of Black Ohio Action Agenda that resulted in the largest minority business spend in Ohio history , increased funding for Central State University, and hundreds of thousands in job training funding. She championed the $100 million Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. state highway exchange, the only new highway exchange currently in Ohio.
