About
Allison Copening was a Democratic Nevada State Senator representing Clark County District No. 6. Born in 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she worked in marketing and public relations, including at Channel 8 News, and founded Seasons Funeral Planning Services. She was a dedicated advocate for organ donation, notably modeling this commitment in her own death. Copening passed away at age 55 on January 18 after a brief illness.
Notable achievements include Top 40 Under 40 by In Business Las Vegas magazine ; Distinguished Women in Southern Nevada ; Leadership Las Vegas ; and Rapport Leadership International . She held affiliations such as Trustee for the Desert Research Institute Research Foundation, Past President of Child Focus Nevada, and partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Bonanza High School; University of Nevada, Las Vegas, B.A. in Communication Studies.
Political Experience: Elected in November 2008 after defeating Bob Beers, Copening served one four-year term in the Nevada Senate , attending one special and one regular session. She did not seek reelection in 2012.
