Alvin B. Jackson is a former Republican state senator who represented Utah's 14th Senate district from 2014 to July 2016. Appointed by Governor Gary Herbert to succeed John Valentine, who resigned to lead the Utah Tax Commission, Jackson served briefly before resigning to take a job out of state; he was succeeded by Daniel Hemmert. A resident of Highland, Utah, he is a businessman, currently serving as CEO of Bevoco and president of Dowdle Studios and its non-profit subsidiary Land that I Love, focusing on American history awareness. He previously worked in government relations in Washington, D.C., and owns Jackson Group LLC. Jackson is married to Juleen R. Jackson, with whom he has seven children.

Notable achievements include chairing the Senate Transportation, Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology Committee and serving on the Social Services Appropriations Subcommittee and Senate Government Operations and Political Subdivisions Committee. He sponsored bills such as S.B. 214 , S.C.R. 5 , S.J.R. 1 , and S.B. 45 .

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
  • Political Experience: Utah State Senate, District 14 , 2014–2016 . No prior elected office; served two sessions . Current board roles include Woodson Center and Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies leadership team.
