Amanda Curtis is a Democratic politician from Montana who served as State Representative for District 74 in the Montana House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born on September 10, 1979, in Billings, Montana, she is currently the president of the Montana Federation of Public Employees , the state's largest union representing educators, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and government workers. Notable achievements include serving as vice chair of the business and labor committees, membership on education and local government committees, and being the first politician in America to post daily video updates on her legislative work. She was the second woman in Montana history to run for U.S. Senate in 2014 and co-founded the Butte America Foundation, a social justice nonprofit.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in biology from Montana Technological University; master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Montana. Earned Distinguished Educator awards in Butte and Helena, and Distinguished Alumna honors from Montana Technological University.
  • Political Experience: High school biology and math teacher for 15 years prior to politics; held various roles in MFPE including secretary-treasurer of the AFL-CIO Southwestern Montana Central Labor Council before her 2020 election as MFPE president; two terms in the Montana Legislature .
