Amanda Ragan
Amanda Ragan is a Democratic state senator who represented Iowa's 27th District. She served in the Iowa State Senate from 2002 to 2023, completing six terms during her tenure. She is from Cerro Gordo County in North Iowa.
Professionally, Ragan has dedicated her career to community service and nonprofit leadership. She served as the Executive Director of the Community Kitchen of North Iowa, Inc., and the Mason City Meals on Wheels, organizations focused on food security and senior nutrition in her region.
Political Experience
During her time in the Iowa State Senate, Ragan was appointed the Iowa Senate Democratic Whip, a leadership position within the Democratic caucus. Her service spanned General Assemblies 79 through 89, representing constituents across multiple decades of legislative work.
Community Involvement
Beyond her legislative role, Ragan has been deeply involved in community organizations and boards. She served on the Board of Directors for Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa and Francis Lauer Youth Services.
