Andrew J. Wenthe is a Democrat who served as Iowa State Representative for District 18 from 2007 to 2013. Raised on a sixth-generation family farm near Hawkeye, he resides in Hawkeye and is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Notable achievements include co-sponsoring HF 1 to raise Iowa's minimum wage to $7.25/hour, sponsoring veteran suicide prevention legislation, and serving as Chair of the House Democratic Rural Caucus. He was elected Mayor of Fayette in 2013 and later held roles such as Vice President for External Affairs at Upper Iowa University.
