Andrew Sorrell is the Republican State Auditor of Alabama, serving statewide since his election in November 2022 with 85% of the vote. He previously represented House District 3 in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2018 to 2022. Notable achievements include being named one of the most conservative legislators in Alabama and the U.S., earning the Conservative Policy Warrior award from the Alabama Policy Institute in 2020, and the #1 economic voting record in Alabama by the Club for Growth Foundation. As Auditor, he serves as Auditor-at-Large for the State Financial Officers Foundation, became Alabama's youngest statewide elected official at age 37, and implemented cost-saving measures like declining a state vehicle and leaving a position unfilled. A 40-year-old entrepreneur, private pilot, advanced SCUBA diver, and Eagle Scout, he owns businesses including Infinity College Textbooks, Gold, Guns, and Guitars, and real estate investments employing about 20 people.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Graduated from Muscle Shoals High School in 2004; earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of North Alabama in 2006 .
  • Political Experience: Affiliated with the Colbert County Republican Executive Committee and Alabama Republican State Executive Committee; first elected to the state House in 2018 as a "firebrand" conservative; elected State Auditor in 2022 after defeating Stan Cooke in a runoff; next up for reelection in 2026.
