About

Andy Kim, born on July 12, 1982, in Boston, Massachusetts, is a dedicated public servant and the junior United States Senator from New Jersey. Raised in South Jersey, he is the son of Korean immigrants—his father a geneticist and his mother a nurse. Kim's commitment to public service is deeply rooted in his family's pursuit of the American Dream. He is married to Kammy Lai, a tax attorney, and together they have two sons. In 2024, Kim made history by becoming the first Korean American elected to the U.S. Senate and New Jersey's first Asian American senator.
