Angie Buhl, a Democrat, represents South Dakota Senate District 15 , which includes parts of Sioux Falls. She is the incumbent senator, serving as minority caucus chair, and is recognized as the first openly LGBT person elected to any office in South Dakota. A fourth-generation South Dakotan, she resides in Sioux Falls with her husband, Jacob, and works as a patient care technician. She recently won re-election in 2024 with 54.8% of the vote.
