Biography
William Francis "Bill" Hagerty IV, born on August 14, 1959, in Gallatin, Tennessee, is a Republican politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Tennessee since January 3, 2021. Prior to his Senate tenure, Hagerty was the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019 under President Donald Trump. He also served as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development from 2011 to 2014. Before entering public service, Hagerty had a successful career in business, including roles as a management consultant and private equity investor.
