Brian Maher is a Republican/Conservative member of the New York State Assembly representing District 101, which includes parts of Delaware, Orange, Otsego, and Ulster counties, as well as the town of Brookfield in Madison County and the town of Neversink in Sullivan County. Elected on November 8, 2022, and sworn in on January 3, 2023, he resides in Montgomery with his wife Rebecca and their three children. Notable achievements include serving three terms as Mayor of the Village of Walden , as Town Supervisor of Montgomery, and co-founding Hudson Valley Honor Flight and Big Apple Honor Flight to honor local veterans. He joined the United States Navy Reserves in 2018 and previously served as Executive Director of the National Purple Heart Honor Mission. As an Assemblyman, he focuses on reducing wasteful spending, imposing a state spending cap, addressing crime, promoting transparency, supporting veterans, combating youth flight through workforce development, and curbing opioid abuse.
