Biography
Brian Jeffery Mast, born on July 10, 1980, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 21st Congressional District since 2017. Prior to his political career, Mast served in the U.S. Army for over 12 years as an explosive ordnance disposal technician under the elite Joint Special Operations Command. During his deployment in Afghanistan, he sustained catastrophic injuries from an improvised explosive device, resulting in the loss of both legs. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, the Purple Heart Medal, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
After his military service, Mast continued to contribute to national security as an Explosive Specialist with the Department of Homeland Security. He also volunteered with the Israel Defense Forces to support Israel's freedom and security. In Congress, Mast serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, focusing on water quality issues related to Lake Okeechobee, and the Foreign Affairs Committee, leveraging his military expertise to enhance U.S. safety and security.
Mast resides in Fort Pierce, Florida, with his wife, Brianna, and their four children: Magnum, Maverick, Madalyn, and Major.
