Biography
Celeste Maloy, born on May 22, 1981, in Cedar City, Utah, is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Utah's 2nd Congressional District. Raised in Hiko, Nevada, she grew up in a single-wide trailer with five siblings. Her mother sold Avon products, and her father was a volunteer firefighter. Maloy is the niece by marriage of Cliven Bundy and cousin to Ammon Bundy, known for their involvement in the 2014 Bundy standoff.
Before her election to Congress, Maloy served as chief legal counsel to U.S. Representative Chris Stewart and as deputy county attorney for Washington County, Utah. She also worked as a soil conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
In 2023, Maloy won a special election to succeed her former boss, Chris Stewart, in Utah's 2nd Congressional District. She was sworn into office on November 28, 2023, becoming the first woman to represent Utah in Congress since 2019 and the fifth in the state's history.
