Christopher Kessler
Christopher Kessler is a Democratic state representative from South Portland, Maine, serving House District 121. He represents the towns of South Portland and Cape Elizabeth. Kessler is an energy auditor by profession and has been actively involved in environmental and sustainability initiatives throughout his career. He is married with two children and resides in South Portland.
Education
Kessler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from State University of New York College at Oswego, graduating in 2005.
Political Experience
Kessler is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives. He was first elected to represent House District 32 in 2018 and has served continuously since then. Following redistricting, he began representing House District 121 in 2022. In the 2022 election, he won decisively with 3,600 votes against Republican opponent Tammy B. Walter, who received 1,195 votes.
Kessler is a senior member of the Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology, reflecting his expertise in energy policy and sustainability. He also serves on the Maine Climate Council.
Beyond his legislative work, Kessler founded and operates Kessler Home Consulting and is the founder of the South Portland Tenants Association. He has previously served as a member of the South Portland Energy & Recycling Committee and the South Portland Affordable Housing Committee, demonstrating a commitment to community housing and environmental initiatives.
