Biography
Cindy Hyde-Smith, born on May 10, 1959, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, is a Republican U.S. Senator representing Mississippi. She made history as the first woman to represent Mississippi in Congress. Before her tenure in the U.S. Senate, Hyde-Smith served as the Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce from 2012 to 2018, becoming the first woman elected to that position. She also served in the Mississippi State Senate from 2000 to 2012, where she chaired the Agriculture Committee for eight years.
