About

Assemblymember Corey A. Jackson is a Democratic politician representing California's 60th Assembly District, which includes portions of Riverside County such as Moreno Valley, Riverside, Perris, San Jacinto, and the unincorporated community of Mead Valley. He is the first openly gay Black man and the first Black person to represent Riverside County in the California Legislature. Elected in November 2022 and reelected in 2024, he is a member of the California Legislative Progressive Caucus and California Legislative Black Caucus. Notable achievements include authoring legislation preventing local school boards from banning textbooks with LGBTQ+ and race-related content, founding SBX Youth and Family Services to combat poverty and violence through mentoring and education, and serving as the first student board member of Rialto Unified School District in high school.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in political science from California State University, San Bernardino, where he served on the CSU Board of Trustees and chaired the Santo Manuel Student Union Board of Directors. Master of Social Work and Doctor of Social Work from California Baptist University.
  • Political Experience:
    • Elected to Riverside County Board of Education in 2020, representing parts of Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, and Mead Valley .
    • California State Assembly : Chairs Budget Subcommittee No. 2 on Human Services; former chair of Human Services Committee; member of committees including Transportation, Higher Education, Budget, Business and Professions.
    • Select committees: Chair of Select Committee on Racism, Hate, and Xenophobia; member of Select Committees on Biotechnology and Medical Technology, California's Mental Health Crisis, Native American Affairs, Reproductive Health, Nonprofit Sector, and Status of Boys and Men of Color.
    • Former congressional and legislative staffer; student trustee for the California State University system.
