Biography

Cory Anthony Booker, born on April 27, 1969, in Washington, D.C., is a Democratic U.S. Senator representing New Jersey. Raised in Harrington Park, New Jersey, he became the state's first African-American senator upon his election in 2013. Before his tenure in the Senate, Booker served as the 38th Mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013, where he focused on reducing crime and revitalizing the city. In March 2025, he delivered a historic 25-hour speech in the Senate, protesting the policies of President Donald Trump's administration.
