Biography

Daniel Reed Crenshaw, born on March 14, 1984, in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 2nd congressional district since January 3, 2019. Raised in Katy, Texas, he is a sixth-generation Texan. His father's career in the oil and gas industry led the family to live in various countries, including Ecuador and Colombia, where Crenshaw attended high school and became fluent in Spanish. After graduating from Tufts University in 2006, he joined the U.S. Navy SEALs, serving for a decade and completing five deployments. During his third deployment in Afghanistan in 2012, he was injured by an IED blast, resulting in the loss of his right eye. Following his military service, Crenshaw earned a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2017. He was elected to Congress in 2018 and has since been re-elected in 2020, 2022, and 2024.

    • Serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including the Subcommittees on Health; Environment, Manufacturing, & Critical Materials; and Oversight and Investigations
    • Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, serving on the Central Intelligence Agency Subcommittee and the National Intelligence Enterprise Subcommittee
