Eric Adams is a Democratic politician who served as the 110th Mayor of New York City from 2022 to 2025, representing all five boroughs of the city. Born Eric Leroy Adams on September 1, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the second African American mayor after David Dinkins and focused on public safety, crime reduction, and initiatives like trash containerization. Notable achievements include winning the 2021 Democratic primary via ranked-choice voting, defeating Republican Curtis Sliwa in a landslide general election, reintroducing plain-clothed NYPD units, increasing subway patrols, and mandating trash containerization across much of the city, described as a major accomplishment of his term. He was succeeded by Zohran Mamdani after one term.
Education and Political Experience
