Biography
Eric Michael Swalwell, born on November 16, 1980, in Sac City, Iowa, is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 14th congressional district since 2023. Raised in Dublin, California, he is the eldest of four sons born to Eric Nelson Swalwell, a police chief, and Vicky Joe Swalwell, a small business owner. Swalwell's early life was marked by a strong work ethic, including running a paper route at age 10 and working in construction during his teenage years. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Education:
- Attended Campbell University in North Carolina on a Division One soccer scholarship from 1999 to 2001.
- Transferred to the University of Maryland, College Park, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics in 2003.
- Obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2006.

Political Experience:
- Interned for U.S. Representative Ellen Tauscher during his undergraduate studies.
- Served as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California, leading the Hate Crimes Unit.
- Elected to the Dublin City Council in 2010.
- Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012, defeating 20-term incumbent Pete Stark.
- Served on the House Intelligence Committee for eight years, overseeing the CIA and participating in investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and the impeachments of President Donald Trump.
- Appointed as a House Impeachment Manager for President Trump's second impeachment trial.
- Currently serves on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees.
- Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Future Forum, focusing on issues affecting millennial Americans.
- Founder and co-chair of the bipartisan Critical Materials Caucus and Personalized Medicine Caucus.
Swalwell resides in California with his wife, Brittany, a small business owner in the hospitality industry, and their three children: Nelson, Cricket, and Hank.
