Jamie Raskin, born December 13, 1962, in Washington, D.C., is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Maryland's 8th Congressional District since 2017. The district encompasses most of Montgomery County and a portion of Prince George's County. Prior to his congressional tenure, Raskin was a three-term Maryland State Senator and a constitutional law professor at American University's Washington College of Law for over 25 years. He is also an accomplished author, with works including Overruling Democracy: The Supreme Court versus the American People and the New York Times bestseller Unthinkable: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy. ,
