Biography
Jared Evan Moskowitz, born on December 18, 1980, in Coral Springs, Florida, is a Democratic politician representing Florida's 23rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 3, 2023. He has a diverse background in public service, including roles as a Parkland City Commissioner, member of the Florida House of Representatives, Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and Broward County Commissioner.
Moskowitz's political career is marked by his commitment to public safety and environmental protection. Notably, after the tragic 2018 shooting at his alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, he collaborated with victims' families and lawmakers to pass the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, a comprehensive gun violence prevention, school safety, and mental health bill.
As Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management from 2019 to 2021, Moskowitz led the state's response to natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing the distribution of personal protective equipment and vaccines.
In Congress, he serves on the House Oversight Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism and co-chairs the Congressional Dog Lovers’ Caucus.
