Jay Phillip Obernolte is a Republican U.S. Representative for California's 23rd Congressional District, serving since 2021. Born on August 18, 1970, he is a businessman, video game developer, and owner of FarSight Studios. Prior to Congress, he served in the California State Assembly for the 33rd District , as Mayor of Big Bear Lake , and on various local boards including the Big Bear Airport Board. Notable achievements include chairing the House Subcommittee on Research and Technology, authoring bipartisan wildfire mitigation legislation, advocating for veterans' healthcare, and focusing on science, technology, water infrastructure, and wildfire prevention. He is the only current member of Congress with a graduate degree in artificial intelligence and holds certifications as a flight instructor and martial arts teacher. He lives in Big Bear Lake with his wife Heather and their two sons.
