John Cornyn, born on February 2, 1952, in Houston, Texas, is a seasoned American politician and attorney serving as the senior United States Senator from Texas since 2002. A member of the Republican Party, Cornyn has held various significant positions, including Senate Majority Whip from 2015 to 2019 and Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2009 to 2013. Before his tenure in the Senate, he served as the Attorney General of Texas from 1999 to 2002 and as a Justice on the Texas Supreme Court from 1991 to 1997. Throughout his career, Cornyn has been recognized for his legislative effectiveness, with over 80 of his bills signed into law, focusing on bolstering the Texas economy, enhancing national security, and creating safer communities.
