John Hoeven, born on March 13, 1957, in Bismarck, North Dakota, is a Republican politician serving as the senior U.S. Senator from North Dakota since January 3, 2011. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Hoeven served as the 31st Governor of North Dakota from 2000 to 2010. Before entering politics, he was a banker, notably serving as president and CEO of the Bank of North Dakota from 1993 to 2000.
