Biography
John Patrick Joyce, M.D., born on February 8, 1957, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, is a Republican serving as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District since January 2019. Before his political career, Dr. Joyce practiced medicine for over 25 years, co-founding Altoona Dermatology Associates with his wife, Dr. Alice Plummer Joyce, in 1991. Their practice served patients across Central Pennsylvania, encompassing all ten counties in the 13th Congressional District.
In Congress, Dr. Joyce has focused on delivering affordable, quality healthcare in rural communities, lowering energy prices, and expanding access to high-speed internet across South Central Pennsylvania. He serves as a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and as Vice-Chair of the House GOP Doctors Caucus.
A lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona, Dr. Joyce has been actively involved in his community through volunteer service at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen and participation on advisory boards for Penn State Altoona, the American Cancer Society, the United Way, and the Goodman Trust.
