John Thomas Lastinger is a Republican member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 88 in Lexington County. He was born and raised in Lexington County and has maintained deep roots in the community throughout his life.
Lastinger has been married for 50 years and has two sons, two daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren, all of whom live and work in Lexington County. He is known for his conservative Christian values and commitment to community service.
Political Experience
Lastinger took office on January 6, 2026, after winning a special election to replace former Representative RJ May. He received 1,672 votes in the election, defeating Democrat Chuck Hightower, who received 1,010 votes. He represents a portion of eastern Lexington County that covers the areas of Pine Ridge and South Congaree.
