Mark Robert Warner, born on December 15, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a Democratic politician serving as the senior United States Senator from Virginia since 2009. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Warner served as the 69th Governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006. Before entering politics, he was a successful technology and business leader, co-founding the company that became Nextel and investing in numerous start-up technology companies. Warner is married to Lisa Collis, and they have three daughters.
