Matt Simpson is a Republican/Conservative/Independence Assembly Member representing District 114 in the New York State Assembly, which includes Essex County, Warren County, and parts of Saratoga, Washington, and Fulton counties. Elected on November 3, 2020, he grew up in the North Country, was born on August 4, 1967, in Bolton, N.Y., and previously owned a small business in the construction trades for over 30 years. Notable achievements include advocating for lower taxes, reining in spending, eliminating unfunded mandates, improving infrastructure, supporting law enforcement and public safety, protecting state parks, aiding local businesses, and promoting government transparency. He has served as President of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages , representing over 100 Adirondack municipalities, and collaborated with state officials and environmental groups on constitutional amendments.

Education and Political Experience

  • Prior to politics: Small business owner in construction for over 30 years.
  • 2011: Elected to Horicon Town Board.
  • 2013: Elected Horicon Town Supervisor, serving until Assembly election; concurrently on Warren County Board of Supervisors as Committee Chair of Public Works and Personnel, Vice Chair of Public Safety, and other roles including Environmental Concerns, Finance, Extension Services, and Health, Human & Social Services.
  • 2015: Appointed to Warren and Washington County IDA; Chair from 2018-2019, overseeing economic development projects.
  • 2018: Elected President of Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages .
  • 2020-present: New York State Assembly Member for District 114 .
