Mitzi Epstein (12)

Mitzi Epstein is a Democratic State Senator representing District 12 in the Arizona Senate, where she serves as Senate Minority Leader. She is a full-time legislator known for her collaborative approach, focusing on public education, environmental sustainability, and responsible resource management. Notable achievements include co-founding coalitions for high-quality public schools, establishing the bicameral Sustainability Workgroup in 2019 to address clean air, water, and wildlife amid climate change, and leading Democratic budget efforts to boost education funding and wages for caregivers and state workers. She also owns a small business, Custom Language Training, and has been recognized for supporting local control, mental healthcare access, and afterschool programs.

Education and Political Experience

Epstein worked as a computer systems analyst for multinational companies including Olin Brass and Citicorp. Her community service includes leading coalitions for parents, businesses, and retirees advocating for excellent public schools , coaching AYSO youth soccer , and serving on the Kyrene School Board . Politically, she served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2017-2022, then was elected to the Senate, where Senate Democrats chose her as their leader. She previously held roles with the AZ State PTA as Legislative Issues Chair and Vice President.
