Natalie Blais is a former State Representative for Massachusetts's 1st Franklin District. She was sworn into office in January 2019 as the first female State Representative for this district, following the retirement of Stephen Kulik. She served in this role until January 2026, when she resigned to accept an administrative position at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Throughout her tenure, Blais was the Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on Agriculture and held membership on the Joint Committees on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development; Transportation; and Ways & Means.
Education
Blais earned a B.A. in Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She later completed an M.A. in Organizational and Political Communication from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received the Cecil and Helen Rose Ethics in Communication Scholarship.
Political Experience
Prior to her service as State Representative, Blais worked for over a decade as a Congressional Aide to U.S. Representatives John Olver and Jim McGovern. She subsequently became the first Chief of Staff to University of Massachusetts Amherst Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy and served as Executive Director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. In total, she has worked on behalf of western Massachusetts residents in various public positions for over a decade before and during her legislative service.
